What I find that works will to clean the last remnants from the coils is I remove the lid, and gently suck in while the power is on.
You get a wicked hit or two. You can look down the mouth piece and when all coils be glowing, time to reload.

My XL quad coil gets used 3-9 times a day, depending on the day. It is about a month and a half old. It gets used everyday. When I first got it only 3 coils worked, so I thought it was a goner.
