Yocan Orbit 2.0 — Better Than the Original?

Post by Michelle »

I’ve been checking out the Yocan Orbit 2.0, and after a few sessions, I think the biggest thing to understand about this device is that it’s pretty simple: it gives you a lot of control, but you have to do a little more of the work yourself.

The Orbit 2.0 uses a quartz chamber with a bottom heating system and spinning terp pearls. It’s still a single-button device, which I like because there really isn’t much to figure out.

Five clicks turns it on, two clicks starts the preheat, and three clicks lets you adjust the voltage.

One nice upgrade is the small **OLED screen**. Instead of trying to remember what different blinking lights mean, you can actually see your settings directly on the device.

The voltage can be adjusted from **2.8V to 3.8V**, giving you quite a bit of room to experiment.

That said, the voltage setting isn’t the whole story.

The Orbit 2.0 doesn’t automatically maintain a specific chamber temperature, so how long you hold the button has a pretty big effect on the hit. Shorter presses give you a different experience than holding the button down longer.

It definitely takes a little experimenting to find your preferred rhythm.

### The Preheat Is Actually Useful

The preheat mode was one of the better features for me.

Double-clicking starts a low-power heating cycle for around 10 seconds, which helps soften thicker concentrates before you start your actual hit.

It also feels improved compared with the original Orbit. The older version could sometimes get too aggressive during preheat, while the 2.0 feels more controlled.

### Terp Pearls Spin Much Better

One of the most noticeable improvements over the original Orbit is the terp pearl movement.

When everything is clean and properly assembled, the pearls spin really well. Watching them move through the quartz chamber is honestly part of the fun of using this thing.

There is one catch, though.

After several sessions, residue starts affecting the airflow and the pearls don’t spin quite as freely. Because of that, the Orbit 2.0 benefits
