I’ve been using the Yocan Black Pocket regularly, and after putting it through plenty of daily sessions, I think it’s one of the more practical portable concentrate devices in its price range.
The biggest advantage for me is portability. The Pocket is compact enough to take almost anywhere without feeling bulky, but it still gives you precise temperature control and a straightforward session experience. For something under $100, it feels surprisingly complete.
Cleaning has also been very manageable. With regular use, a dry Q-tip every few sessions is usually enough to keep the chamber clean, while a deeper clean with 91% isopropyl alcohol only needs to be done occasionally. For a device that gets used heavily, that makes maintenance pretty painless.
Performance is another strong point. The Pocket handles concentrates well and gives you plenty of control over temperature. Around the mid-to-high 400°F range seems to be a comfortable spot for many users, especially if you want a balance between flavor and vapor production.
One thing worth mentioning is that some users have noticed that smaller dabs don’t always fully vaporize in a single session. A simple workaround mentioned in the community is adding a small 3mm terp pearl. According to one user, this noticeably improved vapor production and helped the concentrate heat more evenly.
Battery life seems to vary a little from unit to unit. One user reported only getting around two to three sessions per charge, while another said they were getting closer to 10–12 sessions at similar temperatures. In my view, battery life probably isn’t the Pocket’s strongest feature, but considering how small and portable the device is, it’s still reasonable.
Another nice thing is that the Pocket doesn’t feel wasteful. With the right temperature and session length, you can get multiple pulls without immediately burning through everything in the chamber.
Overall, the Yocan Pocket feels like a strong option for someone who wants a portable concentrate device that is easy to use, simple to clean, and capable of delivering solid performance without spending several hundred dollars.
For heavy daily users, the battery may be the one area to keep an eye on. But in terms of portability, temperature control, maintenance, and value, the Pocket is hard to complain about.
If I had to sum it up simply: it’s a compact device that does most of the important things right, without making the experience complicated.
