Ceramic Coil - best way to use?

I have the quartz coil. It gets too hot for me, with my typical technique (few seconds to get base heat, then feathering on/off the button to 'keep' it at a rough heat as I draw).
I attached the above coil to another 510 thread battery that has a Min-Max dial. With the quartz coil, I tend to leave it as low as I think I can, always under Medium.
So I am trying the ceramic coil. But what is the best technique?
So far, on my usual "cooler" setting, it doesn't produce much vapour.
Do I need it on the max heat?
Do I heat it up, the feather the button, as before?
Heat up once, then the heat is retained?
Do I open up the air-block on the Yocan?
